I've been with Zenfolio since 2008. It' a great site and a great price. But the last year or so, I've been really paying attention to SEO and Zen is falling way short in this area. Also, the site designs have not really been updated the entire time I've been there. There is a huge push for introducing new products (none of which I would use). seems development is going more toward selling services and products than making advancements in design, programming, SEO, etc.
I've had my own sites that I've designed in the past using wordpress and dream weaver as a front end and the zenfolio site handling the backend. mainly to get around the design issues at zen. But Lately I've been looking to streamline the process. I've cut out wordpress and use tumblr for my blog and the zenfolio site as my main site. It works, but only for the sales I'm already going to make anyway. Current set up not really attracting new people. Been looking a lot at photoshelter and wondering if in terms of SEO and design options is it worth it to make the switch from zen, (especially for the price increase) or is it a case of the grass being greener........
Just looking for thoughts, especially from people who have used both services.
