Lens pouch on belt? Which one is the best?

I am looking into buying lens pouches I can attach to my belt. I would like to use them to store my wide zoom and 24-70mm lens in them while shooting weddings.

I would like to have the ones which are easy to access and open to change lens during wedding ceremonies, etc. when time is short.

I know think tank sells some of them but I am wondering whether there are any under $20... I don't need fancy pouches.

Can you recommend any?

I've used one of the medium (think 70-200 f2.8) sized LowePro pouches and found it to be pretty good. I tend to switch between a 24-70 and the 70-200 on the camera/in the pouch, and it works well. I use a LowePro backpack, so the sliplock attachment is obviously a big plus, but it came with a variety of attachments and a strap.

I use the Think Tank Lens Changer 25 and it works great. Cost is closer to $30, but a small price to pay considering it is protecting a $1200-1600 lens!

I have to agree.

I have all Lowepro cases for my lenses when they are at home. When on a 'walkabout' in Chicago last fall, I picked a case that would hold the larger of the two lenses I had with me...in this case it was the 16-35 ii over the 24-105. I might not have been the 'quickest' way to change lenses, but it hooked to my regular belt and worked like a charm. I also had my filter case on the other side. The only problem I encountered was trying to sit down with the lens case attached. I ended up discretely unfastening my belt once seated at McDonalds and slid it off.

I use Tamrac pro lens pouches because they protect my lens well from the elements, but with a zipper I don't think they'd be the best choice if doing lens swaps often unless you left it unzipped.

The Thinktank lens changer is probably the best fit for your use.

but more info is needed. Are you using a regular belt, or a system belt?

have you considered waist packs? There are waist packs that can change lenses really fast as well. Also include shoulder support so it doesnt sag.

Have a pair of each the 100 and 200, and I agree, they work great!
I use them on a belt, and I use them on a strap as well...

I've compared Think Tank to Lowepro when looking for a belt holster, and the Think Tank holsters cheaped out padding. Build quality was the same outside of protection from bumps.

Lowepro cases have a belt loop design which makes it unnecessary to slide the case off the end of an undone belt.

I have a belt case for a lens and I don't like to use it. Maybe it's just me, but I find it uncomfortable and it tends to pull my belt (and pants!) down. May I suggest:

1. Try it our first. Borrow or buy a cheap one and see if you really like it.
2. Use a separate belt. That might work better.
3. Take a look at small sling type bags. That may be a better choice. It might not even need to be a photo type bag. Check some outdoor stores and see what is available.

If I'm walking for any distance, I prefer a vest unless it's really hot. I carry my gear, including back-ups, in a rather small but efficient back pack (Canon). If I'm traveling light but need more than one lens, I have a small shoulder bag that I can wear as a sling but I'm going to replace it with an even smaller sling bag. At weddings I put a few extra things in my coat pockets (I always wear a suit) and keep my back pack close by. Just a few thoughts. I think I've tried it all when it comes to carrying gear. Thankfully digital doesn't require the amount of gear that film, especially 4x5, does so I travel much lighter today.
