Hi, apologies if I missed the answer to my question when I searched but, does the 300mm f4 work for landscapes? I have been offered one for silly money, primarily I shoot landscape and urbex, but the lens is as brand new used once or twice sitting unloved on a shelf in its box, its to good a deal to pass up but only if it works for some landscapes?

Thanks :D

Sure why not? I have done some landscapes with telephotos via stitching and they results are always fun due to the immense resolution of the final image. The 300 f/4 IS has an excellent MFD for near-macro shooting which makes it versatile along with the IS.

Very fun lens. It was between that and the 400 f/5.6 for me, but I chose the 400... Still not sure I made the right choice, but either way I went I would have wondered so it don't matter :D

sure but a zoom like a 70-200 or 70-300 would be better.

Not my first choice for the typical landscape shots, but you can do landscape shots like this: :)

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

It's definitely more of a birding lens, but it can also be used for landscape. All you have to do is be creative.

However, if landscape is your primary use I would think a 70-200mm lens would be better.
