My first attempt at Portraits

This is my first try at portraits. I did these for a friend in exchange to use them in my portfolio. I had tons of Fun! They were shot with my 50mm 1.8 and a zoom to try to get some Bokeh

I'm giving her a 12x18 for free. Any recommendations on what to charge for 12x18 and 8x10's for her family?

last one is the best, and a really nice shot.

Avoid the bright sun. It does two things:
1) Creates too much contrast and harsh lighting.
2) Makes people squint.

get a reflector, it will get that light behind your subject and put in on the faces where its needed.

2,3,4 are good,i dont care for 1. there is no connection to the viewer and it suffers from top down shooting which is an issue with kids. the last three you got down to their level which greatly improves the composition.

just ordered the Neeewer reflector on amazon, what a steal for 20 bucks, thanks for the feedback

i have one too, works as a diffuser and has the gold and silver too. it has really has held up well that thing is invaluable to me.

I wanna save up for the 70-200L IS 2.8, It looks amazing

just get an 85mm or 100mm, just as sharp (actually sharper), better bokeh and if you plan to shoot kids you don't want to be so far away. plus its waaaaaay cheaper.

I have a 100mm macro canon 2.8, doues that double as a regular 100mm too? sorry for sounding dumb

yes. Absolutely, I'd use that over the 50/1.8 especially for head shots such as these.
