I am having some issues with my flash only firing sporadically. I can turn it on and it might work fine for 20 shots or so, then it will not fire at all. I have to turn off the camera and the flash, and then turn everything back on. Even that doesn't always fix it. It is really like it has a mind of its own. When it is not firing, my camera wont even reckognize that there is a flash attached, because I can't even open the flash function settings on the menu. I get the message saying incompatible flash, or flash is turned off. So i dont think the flash is getting too hot.
As anybody ever witnessed this? is there any way this could be the camera and not the flash? I have tried firing some of my manual flashes, and have not been able to reproduce this.
My flash is a Nissin Di866 II and my body is a 5DIII.
