Hi guys.

I know its a never ending story, but am I the only one who would buy a 60mm lens if there would be any for canon?

I pretty like that focal length, as my 40mm on crop has a pretty similiar FOV.

Is there any chance that canon makes a 60mm EF in near future? Or are there already lenses like this from third partiy manufacturers?

There just inst that much difference between 40, 50, and 60 to create a big demand there. Thats what zooms are for.

Yeah and thats the prob. If there would be a prime 60mm i wouldnt need any zoom anymore (except my 16-35mm)

But i strongly have to disagree. There is a difference between 40 and 60, for me

Deosn't Tamron make a 60/2 macro lens? I know Leica makes a 60 macro lens that can be adapted for use on a Canon. The 58/2 Helios 44 in all its varieties is a great portrait lens and probably the single most common used lens on eBay.

yes, but its EF-S lens.

a newer shorter (50 or 60mm) 1:1 macro for EF would be nice.

Um then get a 50 then?

As a matter of fact a 50 will make both 40 & 60 redundant...

50mm is different than 60mm but the demand wouldn't be there. 50mm is supposed to be pretty much the easiest FL lens to produce so most people wouldn't spend the extra money when you have a 40mm and a 50mm already. If you need 60mm, just crop the 50mm shot a little ;)

Rokkor 58mm looks pretty nice. Could be great with manual focusing at f/1.2 and flares and that for some oldschool lomo-style pictures ^^

You can't crop wider. A 40mm can take the place of a 50mm, and a 50mm can replace a 60mm. If you don't mind cropping far enough, a 40mm can even be used in place of a 60mm.

But it doesn' work the other way. If it does, you didn't need a wider lens for the shot.

I'm not getting the precise reason you are limiting your lens to 60mm. Canon, and Tamron both make lenses in the 60mm range, but both are for cropped sensors, like the sensor in your 650D. If your going to do macro work, just add some extension tubes to a macro lens. This will diminish the minimal working distance from the lenses outer element. I did look at the Sigma catalog and noticed a Sigma 70mm f2.8 Ex DG that is designed for full frame, and cropped sensor cameras, with a angle of view of appx. 105mm. That lens will also be a true macro, 1:1 with a 10.1 inch minimum focusing distance. You may want to look at Zeiss, those lenses are just to expensive for me to keep a catalog handy.

BTW, Canon does produce a 60mm macro, but is know as EF-S 60mm f2.8 macro USM. This lens will only mount to your 650D.

The reason is, not because i want to shoot macro (if its macro even nice because i havent one already). The real reason is, like my first post says, i really like the FOV of my 40mm on the 650D, which will be pretty equally the field of view as i get of a 60mm on fullframe.

Yeah but look at the thread title. I know about the 60mm macro EF-S, thats why i wrote "Canon should produce a 60mm EF lens"
