Hey guys figured I'd post up here. I got replacement EF-A focus screens for my 50D for $5.45 each from Global Electronics Supply in Mississauga Ontario. If you phone Canon Canada that's who they tell you to call for ordering parts. I looked at ordering focus screens from Henrys and they wanted an outrageous price (nearly $40 for an EF-A or $75! for an EF-D). Just figured I'd save my fellow Canadian Canon shooters some aggravation and of course some major $$.

Contact info for the order desk:
18006688776

If you don't have the part number for your screen simply tell them what model of camera it's for and what screen you need (I simply ordered the stock one as I found that the EF-D screen was distracting personally) and they will search for it and send you a quote via email. All you have to do is phone the number I provided here and give them a CC number for payment and they quote 2 weeks from time you order well I ordered last friday and they got the screens in stock and the invoice date was yesterday and I just signed for them a few minutes ago (I personally bought 3)

Only Caveat is that the screens DO NOT come with the replacement tool and are not packed the way Canon packs them if you buy them retail. They come in a little piece of special non abrasive paper and they are each packaged in a ziplock bag. The screen I put in did have a few small flecks of dust on it however with that said I could not tell you whether the dust was on there from the factory or if it got on there as I was installing the screen either way it's teeny tiny flecks that have 0 effect and I've already learned my lesson about being too anal about dust on a focus screen I'm going to simply ignore it and keep on shooting now lol.

Anyways hope this helps you guys save some moola $$$

They ship to the US?

My 5D3 screen is scratched in a few spots... highly annoying.

no idea I didn't ask as I'm only about an hour away from them in Niagara. No harm in phoning and asking them.

the 5D3 focus screen isn't user replaceable like it was on the 5D and 5D2...

Hmmm. If a user can't operate a screwdriver then that's a different story.

Have we found out if they will ship to the US? I keep forgetting to call. :/

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

Does it affect metering? There's no options in the firmware to select different screens.
