I am inspired by hunterdad's awesome post and it's resulting comments over in the Business section, so I'm hoping I can get some good, honest, helpful critique on my website and my work. I'm a part-time photographer, have a great 9-5 job, but I would like my business to pick up. I really haven't received any honest feedback on my work outside of my clients, so I could really use the help to improve!

Hope this is the right forum to post this- mods please move my post or just let me know if I need to post it in a more appropriate place.

Thank you all for this great community! Oh, here's the link!

It seems you are trying a bit too hard on your "about" page in your language. Seems like you're searching for words to make yourself seem high and important like "harkens" and "investigative repore". You say you like to keep things simple in your "about"... well why not keep your writing simple too?

I like the layout of your website. It's very clean.

Here are my comments:

1) Update your Copyright to 2013 at the bottom or show a range of date (ie. 2008-2013)
2) I'd like to see more photos on the home page.
3) I feel like the logo looks a little sloppy. I'm not sure what it is, but it doesn't seem to fit.
4) I'd put your contact info that's under "About" under "Contact" also.

This^
Everywhere, the text is just over considered and over complicated, to the point you're making words up (investigative repore*). The portraits too, the posing on many seems a little forced, there's not much evidence of the 'wonderful environment to show off your unique style, and your family’s unique relationship', just evidence of 'I read some posing books and these are some I found look nice'.

If you're happy with the style of your photo's (and you have happy customers) then that's fine - but if you describe it as something it's not, there's a mismatch, at the moment you're advertising an SUV and selling a Chevvy.

You may have meant rapport but even that doesn't make a deal of sense.

And I just need to add; What in Gods name is a 'creative investigation in portraiture'?

Add alt tags to your images. I see this site is through wordpress, they make that easy. Alt tags are quite import for search, especially if you have pages with nothing but images.
