I think the uncropped works better. It has more drama and a better sense of scale. The 2x3 format is not particularly portrait friendly... a 5x7 crop might work better, retaining a lot of the drama and not lopping off any of the plant head. The stem points directly at the Bee, leading the eye straight to the object of the photo. So it makes sense to preserve some of it.

Thanks Snowy, that is my weakest aspect, composition (or as I call it making things look good ).

Also in general we seem to gravitate toward real close-ups and detail.
