I hope you're not tired of fledglings yet as they're everywhere! :)
This is the 2nd year a pair of Carolina Wrens have nested in a chimney air vent on the side of my house. Their 1st clutch of 2 fledged about 5-6 weeks ago and have proven to be just as plucky as their parents. A 2nd set is on the way......

Mom and Dad poke around everywhere in order to bring home the bacon.....errr, grub(s) for the little ones.

And it didn't take long for the little ones to learn to hang with the lizards; or maybe it's the other way around.

While they do stick to the shadows for the most part, they will occasionally venture out for a portrait.

I find myself laughing quite a bit at their shenanigans and hope that these images have properly conveyed the reasons why. Thanks so much for having a look and leaving behind any comments or critiques you might have.

Wow Steve, congrats on that whole thing, how lucky can one get? Great shots, number two is my favorite. I do think they are a bit hot on the whites, you know me, I always shoot to the left one stop at least, I think it helps control the whites, especially with all the shade in there, don't be afraid to make the background black if thats what it takes. Your subject is Jenny, she should stand out over the bg. jmho, no harm intended. What happened with the little lizard? Did Jenny give it a thought?
Congrats on your new children too!

Thanks so much Lloyd! They are a lot of fun to have around and pretty easy on the eyes too.

LOL Bret, I only consider myself a grandparent :)
I don't think Jenny ever gave the skink a second look; they just both find the hunting good in the same place.
I looked back at the RAW files in ACR and dangit you're right about overcooking some of the whites. In my defense, however, the overexposure was limited to peripheral elements in the frame and not the main subject. I will try hard to take more care in the future and thanks for bringing this to my attention.

You're very kind Andrew, and yes, they do get tucked into some very tight spots.

What an awesome series, enjoyed all of them. One of the Carolina Wrens stopped by my place early this spring but it moved on I guess, not to be seen again. Was wondering if they sound anything like the House Wren while singing?
