This morning a saw this Osprey being harassed by another bird (not sure what it is... anybody know?) and stopped to take a few shots. It was pretty far away. First shot is the full frame taken with my 400mm and the rest are 100% crops. He put up with it for about 20 minutes, then I drove around trying to find a closer spot, but he flew away before I could get any more shots.

I did get two decent, if slightly over-exposed, in-flight shots as he left his perch for a minute.

Think too much color for a RWBB, initially thought it could be a Robin but i lack the expertise in this area, many more folks more qualified for this ID than I.

Do they do this to try and get the predator birds away from their nests?

I know what you mean buy being under attach. I caught this mocking bird harassing the eagle about a month ago.

Poor raptors. They can hardly get out of the house without somebody making life miserable.

Thanx for the comments everybody (and the ID, surgemaster). It's crazy how smaller birds pick on big raptors. Around here, it's usually the Mockingbirds being bullies. I've seen them chasing Red-Tail Hawks, Bald Eagles, and now Ospreys.
