First time light painting a car... I'm definitely going to try it more often, and try different things. Thought it was pretty fun.

light source was a single Alien Bees B800 with the modeling lamp on using a beauty dish.

Looks nice :)

A question though - I've actually never tried light painting myself, but I am about to try it out, but.. don't you have to walk in the shot to do this? Im just thinking that even though the shutter will be open for a long time, isn't there a chance of seeing my "ghost" in the shots? But how else am I supposed to light the whole car etc.

You don't have to. There are various ways to light a car, you don't have to walk in front of the camera or with the light in the frame (either behind the car or between the camera and the car). It just depends on the effect you want and if you want to composite images later. Your choice.

Don't wear white clothes, reflective runners etc. Keep moving, you can even walk in front of the camera without a problem as long as there is no stray light from the rear of your light. See http://photocornucopia.com/1035.html (external link) . It's not rocket science.
