I know it's for the EOS-M...but still...

I've been thinking lately of a possible mirrorless as a small travel camera...the fact they're upgrading the firmware to make the AF 2.3X faster is a good thing...it's just too bad there's no viewfinder for me...

You will not need a viewfinder for the compact eos-m. The screen is really good and one can programme going to max brightness after puishing only one button! Then even in full daylight everything is possible!

must take another look into the M system, looks appealing and reasonably priced.

I use reading glasses, and so a lack of a viewfinder is a complete turn off for me.

"It should be in shops at the end of June, at an MSRP of £379.99 / €399. We're told the lens isn't going to be available in the USA, at least for now."

I wonder why....

Probably because the EOS-M didn't sell too well here in the states. Would not make sense to push a lens into a market that the body hasn't been able to penetrate.

Maybe that whole outlook will change now that the EOS-M was pushed in droves here in the states after the discount.

What is the crop factor with an M? So, what does 11-22 become really?

Lets hope! This lens is one of the resasons I got the EOS-M. I will grey market the lens if I have to but I would rather buy in the USA with local support if that is necessary.

17.6-35.2mm

It is a 1.6 crop just like the rebel and XXD cameras

That's true, though I would hope that Canon has been working on a second iteration of the EOS-M, for which this lens would still be useful.

Did the EOS-M actually sell well in other territories?

If it didn't sell well before... it certainly is selling well now. Canon should totally sell the 11-22 EF-M in the states at this point.

It sold well because the price got cut by 62%...and it appears like its being discontinued at least in the us
