I have a rather silly question, but I'll be quick so please bear with me. :)

I have the 600EX-RT speedlite and the STE3-RT radio trigger.

Soon I will be getting a strobe, and I was wondering what will be the best way to trigger the strobe and my 600EX-RT together? Will I be able to use my STE3-RT in the mix, or do I need to buy a new trigger + two receivers?

I'm guessing the latter, but I just want to make sure.

If you use the ST-E3-RT and 600EX-RT in manual mode, you can use an optical slave on your studio strobe.

I use manual exposure settings on the copy machine

I use the Phottix Strato II to trigger my strobes and an ST-E3-RT or 600EX -RT mounted in the TTL pass through shoe.

I thought about that. Thanks for clarifying! :) But this method will not work if the line of sight to my strobe is blocked by a softbox (which it will be) or if I am shooting outside in daylight.

Oh! So the Phottix Strato II will allow me to use the STE3-RT on top of the Phottix transmitter? In other words, two transmitters at the same time?

Yes I just added the link to one of my earlier posts showing a few setups. If you are only triggering one or two strobes then you'll probably just want to use the Phottix Strato or Strato II receivers as the Strato II transmitter will trigger both but you only have the use of the 4 groups with the Strato II receivers. If you already have a radio trigger system then one receiver will trigger your transmitter which in turn will trigger your other receivers for use when you are using say more than two strobes and you already have triggers and you want to mix Speedlites with studio strobes.
