A pair of mating narcissus fly hoverflies, Meredon equestris. You can always tell when these are at it as you hear a continuous demented buzzing noise coming from a stationary source caused by the male's wings.

close up shows clearly how male flies have eyes almost touching but the females have more of a gap.
