great pic though, and if i owned it, i would haul my cannon, provided i also owned a cannon :P

Keep trying, BTG! Some people see stereo straightaway others have to work at it. Learning to freeview is like riding a bike: once learned never forgotten. :)

Nothing to do with a cannon ....

Thanks for chipping in!

Another brilliant 3D image! well done its great. As for its purpose, I wonder if it was used for harvest? or carrying from the mines?

Thanks for the invite Balliolman, as I would not likely have found this 3-D. I love your work and this is another fine example, but I've also spent far too much time trying to figure out what it is.

The design is quite interesting in that the axle is not a straight bar between the wheels and is constructed of curved iron. I'm guessing that it is constructed that way so that the cart could be pushed over something narrower than the width of the cart (obviously), but higher than the level of where a straight axle would have been.

You are indeed the King of Stereo.

This could be used at harvest time or carried its intended load from a mine, Beesparkle, but the contraption was not designed to be used only at such times or places! :) Good to hear from you again!

Especial thanks for looking and pondering, Randy. The curved part you observed is indeed an important design feature and clue to the contraption's purpose! :D Thank you for the majestic praise!

John, others have had similar thoughts! The contraption could carry a flagpole but that was not its intended load. Thanks for your idea. :)

Barrels would be difficult to load onto the contraption, I think, Beesparkle. Sacks would be possible but they are not what the contraption was designed for. :) Thanks for your ideas.

Yes!! Larlen, you are the closest so far. :D I think beyond this point it would be splitting hairs not to say you have worked out the contraption's purpose.

The contraption is a horsedrawn stretcher carrier. The stretcher is suspended from the hooks. The metal work is shaped around the patient's body. The carrier was used as part of the fire rescue equipment of the mansion.

Thank you everyone who offered their ideas! If you are viewing the stereo after this posting please continue to tell me your opinions of this 3D!

Wow! Thats really interesting! My husbands a fireman and so I will get him to have a look! Its very different from todays equipment. In fact as I speak he is at a bus depot where 10 buses are alight :( Wish I had my camera there to take a shot or two.
Keep posting your 3d photos Ballioman as we all love them!

That was fun Balliolman. What was the time-period when the horse drawn stretcher carrier was used?
