Here we have a rather delightful UK moth, the Puss Moth (Cerura vinula), medium large, with a wingspan of up to 70mm. This is a male, as evidenced by the feathery antennae used to detect the pheromones given off by the females.
I believe that the name "puss moth" refers to the cat-like hair on the head and body, but I always think that it looks more like a Dalmatian dog!

Here is a close up of the furry head, which I think looks like the ermine they wear in the House of Lords!!
