Enlightening

I took a picture of this church building as the sun was going down behind it. The sky was glorious.

Would love your comments and criticisms.

Oh boy!

That is one good photo!

Try cropping off the top so that the dark of the sky is eliminated. As it stands, it makes the eyes bounce around.

Eliminating the dark part of the sky will also make the sisps of the clouds lead off the frame.. an overall great effect.

OK nevilleb, I gave it a try. I also cropped out the light in front of the church building.

What do you all think? Better?

I like the original. The dark sky seems to balance the dark church, and the uniqueness of the cloud edge deserves being included. Great positioning of the steeple in the overexposed sun. (perhaps you could clone out the light standard)

Your idea of capturing that precise moment was at least excellent.

I would love to hear more opinions of which photo is better - the original post or the cropped one. I am torn between the two.

to me the original seems to have balance.
