Last week at a family wedding my girlfriend dropped my Canon 50/1.4 in a chapel :( I know it has some 'issues' and I've always babied it a bit to avoid any knocks and hopefully stave off any focusing problems.

Long story short it took a tumble from the height of a pew onto a hard wooden floor and it's knocked the focusing off just enough to make it unusable at anything below f2.8. But I only realised when I got home because on the back of my 5dc the images looked alright, once I saw them on the computer I could have drop-kicked it out the back door into the garden. I may or may not have sulked a bit with my girlfriend as a result too lol.

I'm guessing it's nothing TOO serious as everything is moving inside and there's no obvious damage to the lens itself, anything from f4 onwards is pretty much spot on too so possibly just a realignment needed. But still, it's small consolation for all the missed shots on the day. Thank God I wasn't the photographer or I'd be seriously worried about now :o

Sorry to hear that.
My GF is clumsy at times too. Think of it this way, now she can help you fund that 50mm 1.2 :)

Haha I wish. I almost bought a used 1.2 a few months ago, if it had been dropped I think I would have screamed out during the service lol

I had the AF mechanism fixed by Canon for around $90, so I wouldn't worry too much. It died on its own.

i dropped my lens once and it caused the front half of the barrel to become completely loose and lens wouldn't focus right. Lens was about 6 months old only. Canon fixed it completely free.
