hey all,

recently I did a shoot and after I got home I discovered that much of my best footage was somehow messed up.

I shoot with the Rebel T3i, and I use the MagicLantern mod.
Without thinking, I used the FPS override to set my FPS to 60, so I could reduce the playback to 24 fps and get a nice slow-mo effect. (Rather than use the Canon setting).

Somehow the camera shot in 60 and *somehow* rendered it in 24.
I know. It's weird.
The problem is I'm getting weird refresh lines on my footage, making it unusable.

This is a YouTube clip of the problem...this particular clip was uploaded WITH NO EDITING, and NO changes made to the file coming off the card. It went straight from the card to YouTube. This is how all my 60p unedited footage looks.

Is there any hope for this? or is it all pretty much shot?

Do you know what was your camera set to - aperture and shutter speed.

Shutter speed was supposed to be half-shutter....so like 1/120 or so.
It did vary some what but it seems to have no effect on the glitch on the clips.

Aperture varied since it was a night shoot with bright lights but I'd say around f/2.8, going as wide as 2 and as closed as 4-5.6.

It's a nightmare since much of my best footage was 60p :(

I was guessing that it was a shutter speed issue with it being a dark video and I didn't think that you would have managed to get 1/120th.

But at 1/120th the footage "should" have been fine.

What software are you editing in and can you host a SOOC clip so that we can try to replicate the problem / try to find a fix.

I think we figured it out...it was because I was in 1080 and the t3i can't handle that frame rate at that resolution.
In the Canon firmware it only allows 1080/24 or 30
And 720/60. Magic Lantern forced the camera to do 1080/60 and
It couldn't handle it.
A lesson learned the hard way...via lost footage. :(
