Dear all,

I would like to use the following setup to carry out macro photography :
Canon 550D, Yongnuo OC-E3 and 580EX.

However, when i took a photo and adjusted the external flash to full power mode,
the camera cannot trigger the flash, even different power adjustment instead of full power.

Then, I took away the OC-E3 and put the flash back to the hot-shoe of the camera, the flash works fine and ensure functionality.

May I ask if there are any inappropriate setting I misunderstood carrying out so that i cannot trigger the flash using full power with OC-E3? Or Yongnuo cannot provide this function to me?

Thanks all,
Terry Wong

You probably have a defective cable. I have several ETTL cables and have had good luck with them, but many report connection problems just as you have described.

Make sure you have the cord in the hot shoe the right direction.

oops... how unlucky i got a defective one....

Meanwhile, I double check again the direction of hot shot plug in of both end...
it is only one way connecting with flash and the camera with the hot shoe.

thanks oldvultureface and dedsen.

Terry

Sorry 'bout that. If you've a mind, simple radio triggers are cheap, reliable, useful in more situations, and eliminate the chance of snagging the cord.
