First serious attempt at taking photographs in my life. Digital Rebel XT 350D with kit lens (which, from reading here, need to be replaced soon). Comments, complaints, etc, are welcome.

Looks pretty good, especially for a first try. I might have left the shutter open a little longer so that you could capture a little more green in the foliage. Also, the plant on the lower left is large enough to be distracting. Possibly another angle from farther to the right would have helped the composition. Other than that, I like it.

Thank you for your comments. I was without a tripod (on my shopping list) and longer exposures had a lot of blur in them from camera shake. Hopefully the composition will improve over time. Thanks again.

Wow, I was guessing that this was with a tripod (without looking at exif info). I'm even more impressed finding out that it is not. I don't think I could hold that steady.

I was leaning partially on rocks to steady myself as best as I could. If you click the photo, it takes you to the page of my website gallery and the CR2 can be downloaded. I guess I should have mentioned that in my original post. Thank you again for your kind words.

For a First serious attempt at taking photographs in your life,i think you`ve done very well.

The water has been expossed very well and the rest of the image, well,it could come up to life with some shadows/highlights.

The only thing i don`t realy like is...the out of focus forground leaves.

For some reason, I thought focusing more towards the background would be a good idea. I don't know why.

Welcome to the forum! Nice shot! You did a beautiful job for not having a tripod!

This is very good for a shot without tripod, congratulations.
