Why would you Frankenstein a 5DII this way? Especially since it sounds like you cannot bring it back to color...at least not cheaply.

Anyone 'splain?

Maybe he didnt want to shoot color and wanted his B&W images to be of a higher image quality.
His link explains it http://www.maxmax.com/b&w_conversion.htm (external link)

I don't get it. I think you could get some really good monochrome images out of a "normal" 5D2 and LR4. Methinks his asking price is about $3,000 too high. My bet is that he is going own this camera for quite some time.

I would love that camera. But only at the price of a used 5d2...

For the same reason that Leica have a B&W M.

I'd buy one before a standard 5D2...

Neat. I don't know if I'd modify such an expensive camera as the 5D2 but I've contemplated picking up a second 50D or perhaps something like a 20 or 30D for this modification. He is correct that with the removal of the AA filter and the other modifications that the level of sharpness does go up quite a bit not to mention the B&W images produced by the conversion can do some really night things like trees glowing from the IR range light for example

Flash: Canon 430 EX
The camera is just a tool - it is not responsible for the picture.
