Interstesting request for images from the Nurburgring. The publisher wanted the images "highly stylised & very punchy". Ever happy to please ....
1. First look at the Nurburgring (the GP Track not the Northloop) and my first reaction was, "what a lot of fences". It is ironic that the sponsors and the track owners invest in track side advertising and we (the photographers) spend our time...looking for clean backgrounds free of advertising.

2. With a bit more than 500mm or a crop body this would be an excellent corner. It might also help is the weather had been a little more co-operative. No complaints, just a thought for next time.

3. How some of the drivers see where they are going is beyond me. I figure they put the top of the wheel over where they think the apex is.Valeria Carballo (VE) sat higher than most in the Dallara F312.

6. Single-make series often produce the closest of races. Add to this some highly motivated drivers, taking part for the sheer joy racing brings, and just about anything can happen

7. For Arne Hummelburger the racing became a little too intense, and a mixture of some demon late breaking; trying to avoid large curbs, and a fellow racer diving up the inside, resulted in him flipping his Abarth. Happily, it was only the car that was damaged. The full sequence of images for the roll are here http://www.picturesports.co.uk/kummelburger

8. The Maserati Trofeo World Series (they do go all over the world racing these). Is a great blend of a one make series, coupled with reasonable length races and a car that is "easy" (relative term) to drive yet needs finesse to make it go fast. Hustling the curbs I'm not sure was the way to go ...
