I was wondering if the Canon 600ex has a built-in optical trigger system?
I tried trigger mine with a non-canon speedlite without ttl, but I could not get it to work.

digitalparadise Awaiting the title ferry... More info | Jun 10, 2013 07:24 | #3 Yes it does, both optical and radio. You need to set it to master and optical. Is your non Canon flash slave capable? Image Editing OK

apersson850 Obviously it's a good thing More info | You need to point out that the optical master/slave functionality assumes Canon's proprietary communication protocol. Many who ask this question, as the OP did here, imply a simple optical slave, which reacts on any flash, even from arc welding and similar. Anders
