The shallow water exposes the soft sand surface and these fellows love to "dive in" into it with their long fine beaks. Their spanish name is Viuda which means widow in english.

These are such delicate looking birds Brain and you did a wonderful job of showing that off.
I really like the 2nd image showing the pair together. The first image could be a real winner but looks a tad "dull" to me. I see a catchlight in the 1st, but was it shot very early morning or late in the afternoon perhaps?
