This Helophilus Hoverfly was in our conservatory and getting a bit tired trying to find its way out. So much so it seemed to welcome sitting on my finger quite a lot.

Time for a quick rub of the legs (yes my finger nails are a mess, I bite them hehe)

Could this be a blue sky paradise? Nope it's just a Finding Nemo DVD case... must reach round to get that itch

Then it went on Safari and met a Snow Leopard and a Polar bear (the little'uns Deadly 60 Lego)... Dangerous business this being an apparently giant hover fly.

Rescued but not out of danger yet

Back to the comparative safety of my finger and away from would be predators

...before being released back into the garden where it sat with what was almost a look of gratitude on its face, before flying away.

hehe Cheers guys :).

It was a good session with the hover. I think they're my favourite species too. Nice markings and furry. Not so shiny as others so easier to photograph.

Hehe, Thanks all, much appreciated :)

Although I hasten to add that I appreciate Snow leopards and Polar bears that have wandered into the Safari are quite a way from home... but then so are giant Hoverflies :D
