Now I won't sit here and pretend to be a good photographer. I'm pretty bad really at all this but that doesn't mean I don't try. So I was out the other night trying to get a nice milky way shot which didn't go so well, but there was one shot.

It's still not the best shot, but dang it I got my first meteor. lol I was cheering out loud as I watched it fall. It was quite exciting.

nice capture, great detail in the meteor colors.
I'd like to see a better crop showing less black foreground.

That's a great idea. Thanks for the advice. When I get home this evening I'll try and crop some.

Nice shot Jason! Great colors, too bad the streak didn't go a little farther, the way it lines up with the bright area in the foreground it looks like something is getting nuked...

Now I won't sit here and pretend to be a good photographer. I'm pretty bad really at all this but that doesn't mean I don't try.

Don't worry, the more you try the better you will get. I still have difficulties shooting certain things, but my photos suck less and less each year, especially since joining POTN.

You gotta start somewhere! And this seems as good a place as any; it's a nice image even if it isn't necessarily going to hang in a gallery. Even though there's a lot of light pollution there, the foreground lights in the trees combined with the shooting star give it a very "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" feeling.

Great capture ! At least you caught a meteorite and in a good position . Don't cut yourself short , this is better than most i'm seeing here . I'm not a fan of bright foregrounds when it includes the MW .
