G2 256Mb Dane Elec CF card.
card clean at start of holiday (apparently) - 230 ish pics at L/F/jpeg available.
after 100 successul pics (viewed, zoomed etc on LCD) 'CF card error' and no further communication with card was possible.
card reader showed directory struct and file names but copying files using win xp xplorer did not transfer all files - some flagged as corrupt - but of those that did (70%) all but two were not viewable in zoombrowser.
'photorescue' found 90ish pics including 40ish previously erased pics!!
all but two pics are corrupt in zoombrowser and will not expand from thumbnail.
'photoshop' will display most found pics in thumbnail form but will not expand them.
are thumbnails stored separately? does LCD view the thumbnail or the actually pic? if thumbnails are 'found, should I (or a retrieval bureau) be able to ressurect the full pics?

What was the brand of your CF card? I've experienced several problems with PNY cards. Sandisk and Simpletech haven't failed me yet though.
