This UK moth is a member of the Sphingidae family
It is a large moth with a wingspan of 4 inches, beautifully camouflaged to look like a clump of dead leaves

I have experimented with the wireless off-camera function of the Canon 7D here, firing the canon EX600-RT from above and to the left, to achieve this shadowed effect on the moth's left wing

Taken with my Canon 100mm f/2.8L Macro lens on F/13

Good looking moth, James.

Thank you, Ishrani
It really is one of my favourite moths and one of the earliest to emerge in the spring

Thanks for the feedback, Frank :D

I think the black works well with a moth shot
