Jun 11, 2013 08:53 | #2 Nicely detail shot. The difference between the male and female adult Black-crowned Night Heron is size, females are a bit smaller and slightly paler in color. This bird is a juvenile, probably around 1 - 2 years of age. They get their adult plumage around the age of 3. Steve
