I want to know which lighting source is good for portrait shot? I can't afford expensive lights, I wonder if I could get any normal light from home depot or any diy stuff you guys are doing that create good results?

You can use such things, but they are very harsh light sources. Bounce them off a wall/ceiling, off some white foam board, or direct them through thin mesh -- anything to soften the light. --Greg
