Hi All,
I've got most of my good stuff on Flickr. I'd like to be able to post a link, but when I enclose the link to the image in the IMG tag it doesn't work - e.g.

IMAGE NOT FOUND
Content warning: script

which should link to the pic here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/richarris/8701956304/ (external link)

What am I missing here? Seems crazy to have to upload them to another photosharing service just to post them as inline images in messages here...

Sorry if this is a dumb question but would appreciate a pointer or two...!

Ric

Don't use the image link tag, just use the bb code on Flickr, choose the size you want, copy it then paste it directly into the text box.

apologies for my lack of smarts (I'm tired!) but what do you mean exactly?
e.g. if I have a Flickr image hosted at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/richarris/8701956304/ (external link)
then how should I post this?
HTML I can cope with, BB code, not so much..!

EDIT: OK, so I found Flickr generates the BB code, in this case
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/richarris/8808195098/" title="20130523-IMG_4736.jpg by landwomble, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5325/8808195098_8ce489659b.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="20130523-IMG_4736.jpg"></a>

but pasting this into the text box as above doesn't link to the image...?

OK, click on the image on Flickr. It will come onto its own page with a black surround. Down the bottom right are a number of icons, a star, then a thought box, then a rectangle with an arrow coming out of it. Click on that box and arrow. It then brings up a "share" box. Open the "Grab the HTML/BBCode" section. Make sure down the bottom the BB code box is ticked. Then above that you'll see a drop down box. I contains all the sizes you can post the picture in. Click on the one you want, then go to all the code printed in the box above it. Copy that code and just paste it directly into the text box on POTN. The image should then appear when you either click post reply or go advanced. You'll see what I mean by that from below -

The dialog box frow which you got the code is correct, but select the radio button for BBCode instead of HTML ...

OK so I think I'm doing this right but all I get in my post is the BBCode text. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

A ha, click the tack icon (on flickr), not the / icon, and paste that code instead! (note this is a new version of flickr that I am told I am on early rollout on, so it may be different for you for a while yet -Nov2013)
