I like this idea. It's satisfying when one is hungry for color. But you cut off some of their tips. Ouch.

The tip cut was on purpose. Not good?

Looks a little soft in focus on where the eye goes. Also not a fan of the cut off tips.

It's up to you, of course, and it's a question of personal preferences. I can see where you might want to show only part of a crayon when using it as a compositional element. I guess I identify with these objects and tend to think of the photo as a group portrait of them.
