Hey guys,

I just picked up a 5D3, loving it. However, there's something that's driving me crazy. With the previous version, you were able to zoom in on images and while in live view mode with the focus select button near your thumb. It seems now the only way you can zoom is with the magnifying glass button above preview.

Anyone know if it's possible to bring that back via custom functions?

Hope this made sense. Sorry if it's been discussed, I wasn't having any luck with the search.

Mike

No way to do it like the older bodies. I have mine set up to 100% zoom with the zoom button, I can then zoom in/out with the main dial. I got used to it and like but part of me wishes I could just set it the old way because I can't set my older body to match. I like to set things the same on my bodies so it's more seamless to switch between them, it's bad enough the buttons aren't in the same location(distance wise) sometimes when I switch over to the 1DIV from the 5DIII I push the * instead of AF-On because they'll spread out further on it.

Seems so ridiculous, when filming or using live view... it was easy to have your left hand on the focus ring, zoom in to check focus with your right thumb and continue on.

Big fail Canon.

I set mine to zoom to 10X with the "set" button in the middle of the wheel, that way I don't have use the left side at all.

Happy I could help! I was really unhappy with the new placement of the zoom button on the left as well. When Canon changes things like that, you have to wonder if they use their own products.

That zoom function has been on the right since the very first Rebel. It's like moving the shutter button to the bottom left button. Just hard to get used to something I'm so familiar with. Oh well. Thanks again.
