Hey everyone,

So I have a thread like this, titled "Motorcycles and DSLR's" on a couple of motorcycle forums...

Background:
I ride and on many rides carry DSLR gear with me in a backpack and/or a tank bag, including tripod, flashes, lenses, etc. I have seen threads here on POTN that suggest there are other riders out here who do the same!

The premise of the thread:
To post photos of motorcycles (one or many, doesn't matter what kind as long as it has 2 wheels ... no scooters though) that are artistic, in an interesting location, on a ride, setup shots, etc., that you took with your DSLR while out on a motorcycle ride - I mean, not literally while you were riding a motorcycle! - particularly if you just took the bike out specifically for a photoshoot. It's ok if you had a buddy with a car to get to a location for a shoot with all your gear, but it's better if you rode with the gear yourself!

If anyone's got rig shots on a motorcycle, I would LOVE to see and discuss them...

Second premise
To discuss and share ideas for locations, backdrops, lighting, etc., for motorcycle photography in general.

The start...
I've been doing this since August of last year, so I'll post 8 of my favorite shots from my various outings on the bike and my gear.

I only have one bike, and she's my frequent subject... looking forward to see everyone's shots! I'll keep this thread updated as well as I go out and shoot more with the bike.

The link in my signature points to the entire collection, btw.

Here's a few of my M109R - she just came back out from under the knife on a few revisions, so these are not quite current. Gotta find some time to ride too.

Love the M109, really nice looking bike.
I gotta find some run down farm to use as a backdrop, I really like the whole set you posted!

Thanks man, nice shots - the MV Agusta is my favorite, but I have a predisposition to liking italian autos and motos...

Great thread for all things DSLR and two-wheel fun!

I take a camera whenever I'm sport-touring on my VFR, so here's to contributing to this thread... (BTW, I carry my gear in a Dakine Sequence bag, itself in a Givi top box.

Timely thread... I just started a Meetup group for people who share the two interests, the idea being that when I'm on a group ride I always see places I want to shoot but can't because of the group. And when I'm out shooting I see places I want to ride. It has received some very good feedback so far. Anyways, here's my contribution. My Softail and KLR. Same location on the way to work on different days.

Does this ever happen to you? You're on a twisty two-lane road, no traffic, great asphalt and beautiful vistas. As you approach a corner at xx mph (no need to incriminate oneself...), ready to hit the apex at a great lean angle, you spot out of the corner of your eye a great shot, the perfect composition is just screaming at you.
And then, instead of stopping, turning around and going back to that spot to take a picture, you just rail on, ready to take on the next corner...

I have so many photographs not taken because of that very situation....

Yes, that has happened with both of the corners we have here in Florida

Seriously, we don't have corners here. It really, really sucks. I grew up in California where it was a different story, and as such I can relate to your predicament based on that... I never even thought of taking the camera gear out back then!

Very cool, John37 - I was just thinking that earlier this morning, wouldn't it be cool to start a meetup group for something like this.

Keep us posted on your meetup group rides and photoshoots! Too bad I'm on the other side of the country...

I've been hauling gear around for over ten years, so I'll be adding a few photos from time to time.

I hesitated to post, as I am not up to you guys league. Great photos posted here so far!!

I love motorcycles, and take my camera with me where ever I go. A few weeks back my hubby and I took a ride to Gettysburg, PA. We got talking to one of the reenactors. I then kindly asked him if I could get a picture of him sitting on our Ultra Classic. Can't separate a man and his love, so my husband got in it ;). Wished I had used my Speedlite to fill in the shadows :( Live and learn.

Back in April, before I bought my DSLR, we took a cruise on Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas. Rode the islands of Bermuda, St Martin, St Thomas, and Puerto Rico. AWESOME trip!!! This pic is one of my favorites. Taken with my SX40HS. I know, not a DSLR, but I did carry it everywhere in the tour pack :) The location was Soleil Beach Club near San Juan. Again, man and bike attached at the hip/saddlebag.
