Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L (non IS) no longer being serviced?

Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L Non-IS Discontinued?

A question... (I don't own this lens, so for me this is more about Canon policy on such things).

Even though this is an old lens design, since the lens is still being sold new, how can Canon discontinue servicing the lens? Is this normal policy?

Stop relying on CR. They have a near 100% track record of being wrong more than a day or two out from any official announcement. I am still waiting for the 4/23/13 70D, the updated 100-400L, and the 24-70 f/2.8 IS II. All of those have made it to CR2 level. Canon will service the 70-200 f/2.8 for YEARS after they stop selling it. I don't know about cameras, but US automakers are required by law to supply parts to the market for 10 years for any automobile they mass produce.
