Its been a while since I've posted in this forum. And I wasn't really sure which forum this thread should actually go in, but since there is a lot of aircraft involved in these shots, I thought it best to post these here.
I was working for ABC News yesterday in Colo. Springs, CO covering the massive forest fire just North of the downtown part of the city. Another year and another massive fire destroying lots of homes. It was really sad to watch and report on this.
1) Morning sunrise through the smoke
2) Hwy 83 and the Fire
3) Fire and a Chinook
4) Flames jumping over the trees
5) Biker watches the forest and homes burn
6) Air Tanker on inspection run
7) DC-10 Air Tanker dropping its payload
8) USAF MAFFS returning to Peterson AFB
Its been so long since I've shot prop planes and choppers that I totally forgot to slow the shutter speed to get decent prop blur. But in my defense I did have my sound bag around my middle and I was working. The wild yesterday was terrible. There was a constant 30 mph wild out of the South, gusting to 45-50 mph. Many of the homes that were spared the day before got burned down when the fire ran back over areas that it missed the first time through.
This was incredible sad. As we stood on this hill side above Hwy 83 we were surrounded by people that were watching the forest burn down around their homes they were forced to leave.
