Took a little solo jaunt last month. 1st 'major' stop was Moab and was THAT a joke! - reminded me of Palm Springs on Spring Break! - restrnts/bars overflowing out to street, hardly a place to park the trailer (Found one just 'feet' from a 40' BUS!) - Took a couple shots in Arches NP, and moved on... next stop a beautiful little town called Torrey, UT.. (Best Burgers!) - next stop was true Heaven.... Escalante, UT! - Man, is that some wild and desolate country! Drove a dirt rd for 27 miles, turned off another couple of miles, and hiked 2 hours (in sand) to get some of my best shots! - 6 days in that area made me realize I need another 60 to see most of the area....

Hint: - don't break an ankle; take a map & GPS; and don't pet the rattlesnakes.

Outstanding. Very thoughtful composition, and technically stunning.

I hit Moab during Jeep week. What a zoo. I spent the night at the junction of Rt12 and Rt24 in Torrey. I had a burger at a little place down Rt24 in town, wonder if it's the same one.

Thanks! ... Yes, they all benefited from some exposure blending. Most were shot single exposure, and after processing, I just didn't like them. Went back the next day and reshot - I think these turned out much better.

Great shots!

My wife and I loved the little town of Escalante - got there in November for a "local" bazar on a side street. Wonderful people, great prickley pear jelly! For those not familiar with the area, locals travel 2 hours or more to get to a Walmart or hospital.

Also enjoyed Tropic, UT and Bryce N.P. where we saw a California condor in flight (twice!).

We will try Moab some time this summer and your post has gotten us prepared!

Regards,
GEWB

That's where I stayed - in the RV park on the corner.... Yes, same burger joint, as it's the only one in town! Probably won't go back to Moab again until late fall. Wasn't a pleasant place to be - a 1 road town, and that road was bumper/bumper. Hesitated to stop for any photos in Arches NP or I would have had some jerks hood ornament in my trunk!

If you go, you have to eat at the "Circle D" - owner makes some great smoked ribs, and is one hell of a photographer to boot! - His side job is taking photo safari's out in the desert to a small group of people... his work is displayed in the restaurant.

Outstanding images!

I loathe Moab. Edward Abbey is surely rolling in his grave!
