Trade 5D mark II 24-105 for refurbished 5D markIII

I found a 5markII with less than 10k clicks on it for a great price. Have used it and like it a lot. Just would like more speed on the shutter. I can sell 5d markII for more than I paid for it. Throw in my 24-105 and be $200.00 shy of getting a referbished. 5d mark 111. Seems like a no brainier. Am I missing something?

Keep the 24-105 for use on 5DIII.

We just sold wife's 5DII at Showcase on Cheshire Bridge. I ordered her a refurbed 5DIII from Canon USA store and got 15% off by trading in a 30 year AT-1.

yes, do it. it's a no brainer to me.

Get the 1DX and keep trading until u own a Pentax 645 with a load of big bad lenses.

Looking at your signauture i would not do it. You already have speed and quick focus with your 1d. Your 5d fulfills the ff requirements and you would be down a lens. It seems like an expense you could avoid

I would dump 1dmk3, 5dmk2 and get 5dmk3 in a heart beat.

I wouldn't but then I have a MkII already. I have shot with the MkIII several times now and though I easily admit that it is the best all around camera Canon is making right now, the final image is really no different than what I am getting from my MkII. Outside of it's AF, it just way too close in performance and the one thing you mention,

It doesn't improve at all. If you would have said, "I need something with a better focus system", then maybe it's worth it. but shutter speed, ISO capability, image quality, feature set, it's just too close to justify the doubling in cost.

Having had a 5D2 and now got a 5D3 it would be a definite yes for a swap. The 5D2 is a great camera but the 5D3 is on a complete different level. I sold my 5D2 and the 7D I had at the time to get the 5D3 and don't regret it for a second. I've since added another 7D and recently added a 1D3 as I wasn't happy with the 7D in low light but the 5D3 is my workhorse and gets used around 80% of the time.

Having had both I would do it an get the Mk III. It's on another level compared to the Mk II. You won't regret it at all once you have used it for a while.

Wow some great comments, thanks for the insight. It seems I get to shoot a lot of action in really bad light, highschool football, in door swimming, lacrosse at night and have been able to pull it off with fast glass and the 1D mark III. Something else I should have added I want to be able to shoot 300 f4 in bad light the 2.8 is just crazy money. Was able to get some ok shots at a rodeo using my 70-200 at f4 on the 5d markII it was not the worst.......just trying it F4.

The 5DIII should give you better results in low light action than the 1DIII; its high ISO is better. On the other hand you will need longer lenses or crop more.

Do any of you shoot sports with a 300 f4 on the 5d mark III ?
