So who's going to be out capturing this? This is the closest it will be all year at 221,824 miles from earth. I hope to be in downtown Chicago with zero clouds so I can see it.

Right now it is 243,059 from earth. That's quite a distance to close in about a week. almost 21,000 miles.

If anyone gets any interesting shots, post them here.

Starts June 22 - 23.

I'm on it. I checked http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/AltAz.php (external link)
to get the time and the direction to look for the moon. Sometimes, just looking to the east, you can miss it until it is up a little ways -- it seems to move very quickly near the horizon.

I will be shooting from my office window tonight and, if it's nice, an overlook tomorrow.

Here is the supermoon shot I got in May 2012.

As usual they are predicting thunderstorms in our area. Bummer!

We were lucky here in Seattle last year but I think we're doomed this year.

Here's one from last year, it was picked up by the Atlantic so I feel pretty good about that :-)
