To take a reflected light reading, uncover the lens (with the diffuser pushed away). To take an incident light reading, slide the diffuser over the lens. ...Leo

And it's self-powered so it doesn't use any battery. What that means is that cell self-distructs little by little every time light hits the cell and eventually wears out. So, first of all, check to see if it's still good, i.e. accurate, by comparing against another meter or the built-in meter of your camera. If it's still good, remember to keep the cell covered up (no light hitting it) when not in use. ...Leo

I have one which my father bought in the 1930s, a Weston which well predates the Master series let alone the Euromaster, and it still worked perfectly last time I got it out a couple of years ago. Film speed calibrated in Scheiner, BS and Weston units (and only up to the equivalent of ISO64 max) so a bit of mental gymnastics required, but the point is IT STILL WORKS. I wonder how many of the latest, wizz-bang electronic jobs will be doing that in 2093 - even assuming we could get the batteries required? Phil ǁ Kershaw Soho Reflex: 4¼" Ross Xpres, 6½" Aldis, Super XX/ABC Pyro in 24 DDS, HP3/Meritol Metol in RFH, Johnson 'Scales' brand flash powder. Kodak Duo Six-20/Verichrome Pan. Other odd bits over the decades, simply to get the job done - not merely to polish and brag about cos I'm too mean to buy the polish!
