Thinking of getting a Wacom, but not sure which version to get.

What are you using and what would you recommend.

Bamboo or Intous

Bamboo
1) Connect
2) Splash
3) Capture
4) Create

Intous
1) Small
2) Medium
3) Large
4) Xtra Large

Intous4 medium.
I use to have a Graphire-3 medium (basically the Bamboo) and that worked fine as well. At work I have a Intous large and hate it and my daughter has a Graphire-3.

The large I find way too big. I hate the one at work and prefer the mouse over the tablet. I find that instead of using my wrist to draw, I use my elbow and it gets tiring if used for log periods of time.

I love my daughters small one but you do have to have pretty good eye/hand coordination as small movements can result in large movements on the screen. That's why I got the medium. It's a good compromise. You can be rather klutzy and still keep things under control. I like to think of it as the small tablet is like using a fine line ink pen, the medium one like a set of sharpies, the large one like kindergarten giant crayons and the extra large one like using spray cans.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

A small intuos is all you'll need, you can try the medium, but I'd certainly stay away from the large. They actually have recommendations on they tablet sizes that use your monitor size and usage to suggest a tablet size. I'm pretty sure that they recommend small for monitors at or under 24" .

I just ordered the Intuos medium for myself. The medium seems to be more popular, but a lot of people say the small is all they need. I couldn't decide, so figured I could always use a smaller area of the medium. If you get a small, you could always zoom in more on-screen.

I have a 27" monitor. If I had something smaller, the small Intuos would probably have been okay. If the tablet is mirrored 1:1 with your display, stroke lengths on the medium will result in smaller on-screen movements than the small.

Reading everyones comments, I am only a photo hobbist, and dont work ina lab or do PS profressionally

Just watched a few video's at Wacom, they are recommending the Bamboo Capture for photo enthusiast . Seems to be the most popular in the bamboo line

The Intous is more for pros. Seems to be the most popular (MEDIUM) in the Intous line I certainly would consider the Intous if you all fill it's still the better way to go, even for a photo hobby enthusiast . Am I going to need the Intous over the bamboo capture.

Also using a 27" monitor

I use an Intuos medium. Large would be way too big for me and be just a waste of space since I'd have to map it to only use a portion of the surface.

IMO along with more levels of pressure sensitivity and greater resolution, there is a significant step up in the quality of the tablet, pen and mouse with the Intuos line.

Intuos medium. I use a small size, it works fine for me, but if I had a bigger working space I would get a medium. My school has the large size and its almost too big for me, but that's IMO.

Don't get the Bamboo. Spend a little more for a at least a small Intuos. It's worth it.

Which size you get really depends on your personal preference more than the size of your monitor.Get your hands on one and see how it fits you. Also keep in mind how you'll use it. I like to kick back in the chair with mine and have it in my lap, so the small works. My husband likes his on his desk, so he uses a bigger size.

I have a bamboo create and an Intuos 5 small. Honestly I like the smaller size better for my needs. Also the Intuos toggles and wheel are worth the price alone.
