I have had a few setbacks recently including the death of my grandma who passed away on April 17 (her birthday) at age 100. What are the odds? On the day she turned 100 she passed away peacefully at around 7:30 PM. So I have been going back to a time when I spent summers with her, listening to great songs of the seventies by Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Bread, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Eddie Money, Marvin Gaye, Donna Summer, Boz Scaggs, Firefall and so much more.

What is your favorite 1970s music? Are you as "strange" as I am in missing the old days when buying an album and showing off that album cover was a big deal?

Sorry about your loss.

For me it would probably be Wish you were here - Pink Floyd. Classic album and cover.

The back cover from Steppenwolf's Monster album sticks in my mind:

For listening, though, nothing beat Led Zeppelin for me. They had some pretty cool album art as well.

Used to love The Temptations and the Rolling Stones in the 70's. The cover art of the albums was great "back in the day". Nothing like that today. I remember some albums having nice inserts, even.

I loved some of the yes Album like Relayer and Drama, Boston's debut Album cover was quite awesome. The styx grand illusion album was pretty cool.

Zeppelin for me too, along with The Stones, Free and much more from the late 60s early 70s. Still buy albums now as my wife bought me a record deck for my birthday just a few years back. I have the first Beatles album, and it still sounds great on vinyl.

Thanks man. After she passed 90 years old we expected her to pass at any time. But her strength amazed us!

Love Pink Floyd's music especially "Another Brick in the Wall" and "Us and Them."

That's one scary - but good - album cover.

I remember some album inserts having the words to each song. Miss the 1970s and the simplicity.

Believe it or not there was no TV in our household. So I had no tv, no computer, no tablet, no smartphone and no xbox/ps3. But I enjoyed it with 1 brother and 4 sisters. We simply played outdoors a lot and made things with our hands like using bottle caps to make wheels for our "milk carton" trucks!

I still love the original Allman Brothers' Band. Duane Allman was an amazing blues slide guitar player.

They aren't known for their album cover art, however.

From 1977 Ted Nugent's Cat Scratch Fever album cover was my favorite.
Although when I think about it now it seems a bit silly.

Not really specific to the 70s, but I like just about all the Beach Boy's Album covers.

Back in the 70s me and my sister would go over to the Licorice Pizza music store and spend what little money we had on albums. Any one remember Licorice Pizza?

This thread makes me happy. So many of my favorites in here and I was born in the 80s.

Huge huge Pink Floyd fan here, Animals being very close to my heart.

Edit: Sorry, didn't mean to ignore or insult your granny's passing. May she RIP. I was just referring to the (good) music lovers in here.
