i've never actually heard of Infiniti designating the G35 as a Skyline but here's one.

No.. This is the state side version.. This is what the skyline has been reduced to.. It very well may be a badge, but this is exactly what our skyline will look like..

Nissan is making the Skyline available in the US... just a crappy, detuned version of the original beast.. I'm pretty sure that's the real deal there in your picture..

the original "beast" makes 280hp, compared to 298hp in the states. not everything JDM is better.

and is that thing going to fly?? LOL

yea, theres no such thing as *infiniti* in japan or europe... so the Infiniti G35 is bascically a nissan skyline with different badging for the US.

Sorry.. let me clarify.. I was speaking in terms of tuning capabilities.. RB vs. VQ.. The RB is built for boost, and IMO, the RB26DETT was about as close to mechanical perfection as you can have in a semi-normal production car. Yes the US version will arrive with a slightly higher output, but at what cost?.. I apologize.. I should've explained myself, and my opinion better..

Infiniti G35 was at first designed to be a new successor to R34 Nissan Skyline. It began when Reanult took over Nissan about 5 years ago. Reanult redesigned the simbols of success of Nissan, Skyline and Fairlady Z. The picture you mention is an output of Reanult's idea to new skyline. Its design has been ignored from Japanese market as it has no skyline heritages. Its price was dropped to try to clear out the sell, but unforturenately it was not going to help. So now a day, this model of skyline is put out of the line but still exist under infiniti brand in USA. The new skyline is coming out from the original team who designs R34 as before and it will be launched around this summer.

In my point of view, as a japanese, Skyline is our legend. Many of us, and I belive so many around the world, respect skyline as a symbol of success of our automaking capability. It holds so many identical characteristic such as the front grill and the donut shape taillight. When Reanult comes and say, they would give a new concept to skyline, it is somehow hard to influence people about it. Compare them yourself to see if I am right about skyline's design.

Kenta is correct. That is just a v35 skyline. Or here in North America, called an Infiniti G35. It's not a "crappier" or detuned version of the japanese car. There is a new Nissan GTR coming out (the pictures kenta posted) but they're dropping the Skyline name infront of it.

I'm so damn sick of these cars. Every 2nd person in my area has one... and maybe 1/20 are actually manual. Lazy/unappreciative Americans... no wonder we get the crap end of the stick when it comes to import cars.

agreed, Aren. i think sports cars should stick being manual or paddle stick. but because the economy is driven by people with money, they want choices.

anyway, here's one from the front. it has a nissan badge with a G35 body. go figure.

people like to do these to stateside cars to make them look JDM. like making the lexus GS and rebadging it to a Toyota Aristo. its unique and a simple cheap way to make people take a second look at your car. afterall arent we customizing everything these days from cell phones to everything else?
