Are they authorized Canon dealer? Their prices are excellent, even taking into consideration the exchange rate. I'm in the US. I'm interested in the 500mm. B&H sells it for $10,399, Vistek has it for $8899, a HUGE difference. I'm waiting to hear from them as to possible customs duties, etc.

Let me hear from you, people.

Great store, very professional, and knowledgable staff. I'm probably in there every week or two. And yes, authorized seller.

Vistek is a well-established Canadian photo/video retailer serving mostly professionals. Their prices on a lot of stuff are not as good as US retailers though. I'm surprised to hear they beat B&H on higher-end gear.

Yes, try Camera Canada -- they are $100 cheaper and just as reputable as Vistek.

But to your original question - yes, Vistek is an authorized Canon Dealer. :)
And occasionally you can get really good deals - but compare prices using http://www.photoprice.ca/ (external link) before you buy...

Nothing but grief throughout multiple purchases from Vistek Calgary (downtown location) a few years back.

Never again.

Yep typically buy stuff for work through them, they are legit.

Not sure why the huge difference in price between US and Canada for the 500mm? But now we can say we have something cheaper here than south of the border..!

Except that it costs $9000.

Vistek is good - but that lens in Canada has a few other authorized retailers that are cheaper:

Camera Canada is my favorite, simply because they are 2 blocks from me... Aden is pretty good as well...

that is a very helpful site. thank you. If I order it, I'll be subject to 200 shipping and about 220 duty, which is still over a thousand cheaper than buying it here. Wow.
