The Commute

Something from or about your daily commute. Could be your mode of transportation, or maybe something you see daily. For those of you who don't have a daily commute, something about your usual travels will work.

Follow the below posted rules, and let your submission speak for itself. Show me your interpretation of the theme. Subject matter and interpretation is up to you and your creativity.

This challenge begins when posted, and will end at 6:00 p.m. CST Monday, 24 June 2013. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

Photo Submissions:

1. Camera - Any Canon DSLR Camera
2. Time - any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size - Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post-Processing - do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting - * ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.* Photo Name in the message subject line.* Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
6. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.
9. Have FUN!

Ok, contest over. For a while there I didn't think we were going to get many entries, but we ended up with a bunch of really cool ones.

Kevan: This was my fav for a bit. I love the angle. How did you get up so high?

ninobrn99: Very cool shot. Great composition considering you shot it one handed while driving.

teekay: Nice old bus. Some tourist area? Not sure I'd want to spend a long commute on one of those benches. Great shot, though.

Maureen: Beauty of a shot. I love that area. The open roads are so inviting. The hard part is keeping your foot out of it enough to make the Boys in Blue happy.

Matrim33: My first thought was, "Objects in the rearview mirror are closer to monochrome than they appear." Cool idea on the processing.

Jason C: You squeaked in under the wire, but wow, what a shot. The sensation of motion is so strong that I get queasy looking at it for too long. Well done. It's over to you.

This is unexpected, thank you Mark. Well done everyone; I was expecting Kevan to take the cake.

I'll post up the next challenge tomorrow after work; driving that very freeway in my picture.

Nice work from everyone & congrats to Jason! I retired 2 years ago & no longer commute so I almost bowed out of this one, then thought :I take tons of road trips so why not?

Jason, your picture made me sick. Car sick. Great going! Love the motion you captured.

I was lucky enough to go on a tour of Grand Central Terminal just a week before this challenge was called. I couldn't believe my luck! I am crouched down, sticking my camera out an open window, on the highest tier of the concourse's east-side catwalk, much like what you see directly opposite of me. It was a very cool opportunity.

Fun topic though commute is a word no longer in my vocabulary ... love your shot, Kevan and agree that Jason's has got it going on with a spectacular sense of motion.
