As a suggestion, you might try baiting it...pre-focus and wait for the bee to fly towards it. ;)

These lavender are the worst thing, there are lots of them and bees only stop for 0.5 seconds per flower, then dart off to a random flower elsewhere.

I may try baiting something less busy, thanks for the suggestion.
