Sheryl Crow @ Meijer Gardens Amphitheater 6.16.13

First time shooting here. Was worried because this venue had no photo pit, just a row of bushes. Security & the people in the front row didn't seem to mind me squeezing in but I was pretty much stuck in the same spot for songs #2 & #3 (we weren't allowed to shoot #1 for some reason).

All the photographers were on the left side of the stage. Apparently because they didn't want to shoot from the right side, into the sun. I liked the flare it caused in my pics though, and the way it highlighted Sheryl's hair.

I quite like the shot into the sun effect, and it seems to capture the atmosphere of the gig - outdoors on a sunny day better than trying to make it like any other stage shoot. #1 is the best, for my (metaphorical) money and really nice, #4 also - expression is a bit funny in #2, not the most flattering ...

Great photographs of Cheryl Crowl. Looks like a pretty good concert.

You did a great job given the conditions - I like what you have done with the sunlight!

In that case, I guess you are the only photographer to come home with nicely lit instead of flat images

Heh, yeah. One of the photographers there was shooting for the local newspaper. They put her full set on their website (and one photo on the front page). Not bad photos, but shooting into the sun definitely made the lighting more interesting & colorful.

Number 5 is great!!!
