Hi. Is there any advantage to output sharpening before converting from 16 bit to 8 bit, or am I just wasting memory resources?

Conventional wisdom suggests that getting your file to the correct file size, dimensions and bit depth is the time to do any sharpening. .

Capture sharpening (either at 16bit or 8bit), than output sharpening (at 8bit). Depending on the final, usually different for paper output or screen....but either way I am a follower of 2 sharperning workflow. Gear List

The only time I convert to 8-bit, implicitly or explicitly, is just before saving the file as a JPEG file. The exception to this, which is rare, is when I need to apply a filter that's not available in 16-bit mode. ...Leo
